Alper Skyland Scholarship
The Alper Skyland Scholarship is awarded to first-generation students who are sophomores and above. To qualify for this opportunity, the recipient must be a first generation student; must be a sophomore or above; must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher; must be pursuing a major in Social Sciences where critical thinking is displayed. The recipient must demonstrate financial need consistent with a moderate to low-income background, evidenced by receiving a partial Pell Grant or showing significant financial need despite being just above the Pell-eligibility threshold. Preference for the following majors: Anthropology, Criminology, Economics, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, Geography, History, Journalism, Philosophy (Humanities), Psychology, and Sociology. Preference for the recipient to have graduated from a public high school in these four counties (priority order): Weld, Logan, Morgan and Washington. Preference for the recipient to be an active participant in the programming of the César Chávez Cultural Center and/or Marcus Garvey Cultural Center.
