Phelps Family CAP Osteopathic Medicine Scholarship

The Phelps Family CAP Osteopathic Medicine Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students selected and matriculated into the College of Osteopathic Medicine. To qualify for this opportunity, the applicant must be a citizen of the United States or permanent resident; a resident of Colorado; a graduate of a UNC graduate or undergraduate program; have achieved above average MCAT test scores when compared to their accepted COM’s inaugural class peers; demonstrate financial need; submit a personal statement describing how the 3 elements of “Contribute, Achieve, and Pay-it-forward” (CAP acronym) apply to their personal lives; agree to submit a biographical summary to be shared with the Donors, preferably in person at a meet-and-greet before the end of October of the semester when the Scholarships are first applied to the recipients’ student accounts; make a written commitment to the College Dean, upon acceptance of the scholarship to enhance their level of personal financial literacy by successfully completing, prior to the recipients’ starting their 3rd semester, financial literacy training such as the modules offered by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine as well as committing to three meetings with a UNC COM Financial Aid Counselor. (This should typically require a minimum of twenty distributed hours to complete. No graduation credits or grade points apply).
