Bob & Bonnie Phelps Family Musical Theatre Scholarship
The Bob and Bonnie Phelps Family Musical Theatre Scholarship is awarded to a Musical Theatre major. To qualify for this opportunity the applicant must be a full-time student; a B.A. Musical Theatre major who has met the requirements to be accepted into the College of Performing and Visual Arts; award shall typically be awarded to an incoming freshman, and renewed for up to a maximum of eight semesters as long as eligibility criteria continue to be met; must demonstrate financial need as established by the University; must have demonstrated outstanding musical talent, emphasizing vocal/singing and acting, to the faculty of the College of Performing and Visual Arts; and must be a citizen of the United States or a Permanent Resident and not be a dependent of a UNC employee. Scholarship recipients must submit a brief essay (up to 500 words) by the end of September of the fall semester when the scholarship is first awarded that addresses: “To what extent do the values of Contribute, Achieve, and Pay-it-forward describe or apply to you?”; must make a documented commitment to the University to enhance their personal financial literacy be registering for and completing the BAFN 240 course before their senior academic year begins; and must complete a brief biography to be shared with the Donors, or their representatives, by the end of September of the fall semester when the scholarship is first awarded.
